INDIANA, PA – In its second straight heartbreaker, the IUP field hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to visiting Mansfield on Wednesday afternoon at Miller Stadium.
The Crimson Hawks peppered Mansfield's cage with shots early and often, getting seven off in the game's first 20 minutes. Kristie Rollman, the Mansfield goalie, came up big with multiple saves as the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
IUP outshot the Mountaineers 15-1 in the first half, adding 11 corners as the Crimson Hawks owned possession of the ball for most of the game's first 35 minutes.
Mansfield tried to even the game in the second half, gaining possession in the Crimson Hawks zone from the start. The Mountaineers took a 1-0 lead when Kayla Grunza chipped in a shot from right in front of the cage with still less than 24 minutes go to.

Brielle Mackey (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) found
Melanie Simmons (Harrison City/Penn Trafford) off a corner play, who drilled the back of the cage to tie the score at 1-1.
Just four minutes into overtime, the Mountaineers finished the game when Jessi Swingle found Taryn Schawillie for the game-winner.
It was the Crimson Hawks second straight one-goal overtime game loss as they fell to 1-4 on the season. Mansfield improved to 3-2 overall.
IUP hits the road for its next three games, starting with a contest against Shippensburg, the nation's number one ranked team this Saturday afternoon.
