Four Crimson Hawks Score in Women’s Soccer win over Davis & Elkins

INDIANA, PA – Alyanna James (Newmarket, Ont./Newmarket) had a goal and two assists to help IUP to a 4-1 win over Davis & Elkins in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Wednesday evening at South Campus Field.

James was one of four Crimson Hawks to net goals, as IUP outshot Davis & Elkins 19-3 and controlled the ball offensively for most of the game.

IUP improved to 8-4-2 overall while the Senators fell to 6-5-2. This was IUP's final non-conference game of the season, with the final four games all being Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponents.

James put the Crimson Hawks on the board in the 19th minute, scoring her first goal of the season by threading it to the top left corner of the net. IUP scored again not long after that, with Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West) getting her eighth goal of the season off a pass from James.

The Crimson Hawks scored just two minutes into the second half when Lindsey Jarolmen (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) tallied her first career goal on a nice redirected header by Kuhns on the initial pass from James. Brandie Bryant (Essex, Md./Eastern Technical) wrapped up the IUP scoring with four minutes to go, also getting her first career goal by drilling a shot from 25 yards out over the outstretched arms of the Senators goalie.

Davis & Elkins scored their goal in the 73rd minute, as Tina Wulin beat the IUP defender on a loose ball and connected from 10 yards out.

The Crimson Hawks enter the home stretch of the season in a four-way tie for fourth place in the PSAC. They'll get back to conference play on Saturday when they travel to Kutztown to face the Golden Bears (8-3). Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
