Nicole Stevenson (Delmont, Pa. /Franklin Regional) posted three qualifying times and IUP women's swimmers tallied eight total wins as the Crimson Hawks defeated Shippensburg 121-79 in dual meet action on Saturday morning at the Pidgeon Natatorium.
Stevenson's times came in the 1000 freestyle (10:45.89), 200 IM (2:16.62) and the 500 freestyle (5:18.11), all good for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying.
Beatriz Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain) continued her successful freshman campaign with a pair of individual victories, winning the 1000 freestyle with a PSAC qualifying time of 10:34.39 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:11.56, also a conference meet qualifying time.
Aniella Janosky (Dover/Dover Area) also won pair of races – the 200 freestyle (1:57.94) and the 100 butterfly (58.71). Both of those are also PSAC qualifying times.
Other individual winners included
Gabriella Guttman (Allentown, Pa. /Salisbury ) in the 100 freestyle,
Taylor Snyder (Titusville, Pa. /Titusville) in the 50 freestyle, and
Emily Shumaker (Carlisle/Big Spring) in the 100 backstroke.
The other PSAC qualifiers included Guttman in the 200 and 100 freestyles;
Dana Steinert (Kent, Ohio/Kent Theodore Roosevelt) in the 200 and 500 freestyles; Snyder in the 50 freestyle; Shumaker in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke;
Taylor Campbell (Butler, Pa. /Butler) and
Paige Spradling (Lancaster, Pa. /Hempfield) in the 200 IM; and
Sara Bertram (Alexandria, Va. /West Potomac) and
Allie Humphries (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) in the 100 butterfly.
It'll be another three weeks until the Crimson Hawks return to the pool, as they head to the University of Pittsburgh for the Pitt Invitational on Nov. 21-23.
