Women's Soccer Clinches Fourth Consecutive Win Against Seton Hill

INDIANA, PA - The Crimson Hawks women's soccer team defeated Seton Hill 2-1 in their fourth win of the season Saturday at the South Campus Field.

IUP fought hard through the first half, but went into halftime down 1-0 after a Seton Hill goal in the 22nd minute.  This is the first goal the Crimson Hawks have given up so far in the 2014 season after shutting out Lock Haven, Bloomsburgh and Pitt-Johnstown in their first three games.

Cassidy LeDonne (Murrysville, Pa. /Franklin Regional) tied up the game at 1-1 just nine minutes into the second half with an assist by Kate Numer (Lebanon, Pa. /Cedar Crest).  A corner kick by Brittney Kuhns (Middleburg, Pa. /Midd-West) led to a shuffle in front of the net and LeDonne's goal.

In the 59th minute of play, Lexie Palluconi (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) took a shot that was blocked by the Griffins goalkeeper.  IUP freshman Mackenna Miller (Milton, Pa. /Milton) attacked the rebound for a goal, giving the Crimson Hawks a 2-1 lead.

In a game full of penalties, including five yellow cards, IUP stayed tough to secure their fourth consecutive win.  This marks the best season start for IUP women's soccer since 2009.

Goalie Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) played the full 90 minutes and saved eight shots on goal.  Victoria Crawford (Port Matilda, Pa. /State College) and Kuhns, in addition to LeDonne, Palluconi and Miller, recorded shots on goal for IUP.

The Crimson Hawks see their next action on Sept. 16 when they travel to California, Pa.  They return home Sept. 20 for a match against Slippery Rock at 1:30 p.m. at the South Campus Field.
