Women’s Tennis Wraps up Second Day of Rain Soaked Bucknell Invitational

Division I competition.


LEWISBURG, PA – Rain brought the second day of Bucknell's Fall Quad Invitational to a close a little early, as the IUP women's tennis team again showed well on Saturday.
 
It was all singles play on day two, as Tanya Timko (Cannonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) tallied wins in a pair of "A" draw matches, defeating opponents from Loyola (6-1, 6-3) and Bucknell (6-2, 6-2). Luise Von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) and Sophie Butland (Taunton, Somerset U.K./Bishop Fox's Community School) also competed in the "A" bracket, falling in both of their matches by scores of 2-6, 1-6 and 2-6, 2-6, respectively, both to players from Concordia.
 
Rachel Wood (Nottingham, U.K./West Bridgrord) showed well in the "B" draw, winning both of her matches by scores of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-2. Raquel Gonzalez (San Sebastian, Spain/Colegio Sagrado Corazon) split her Saturday matches, defeating an opponent from Bucknell 6-3, 6-3 before falling to a player from the host school, 1-6, 3-6.
 
Ally Rees (Morgantown, W.Va./University High School) competed in two "C" draw matches, defeating a player from Bloomsburg 6-1, 6-3 and leading another Husky 6-1, 6-5, but was forced to default. Katrine Gransoe (Holte, Denmark/KNORD HHX) also split her matches "C" draw matches, defeating a player from Bucknell 6-3, 6-3 before falling 6-3, 3-5 (0-15). Alanna McFail (Fort Washington, Md. /St. John's College ) lost 6-2, 2-6, (7-10).
 
The Crimson Hawks wrap up their time at Bucknell on Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
