EDINBORO, Pa. – Four Crimson Hawks hit a pair of conference qualifying times as IUP totaled 10 on the evening in a 116-88 dual meet win over Edinboro in women's swimming action on Friday night.
Among those swimmers with two qualifying times were sophomores
Beatriz Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain) and
Sara Bertram (Alexandria, Va. /West Potomac), junior
Paige Spradling (Lancaster, Pa. /Hempfield), and freshman
Regan Chalk (Hanover, PA/New Oxford).
Gonzalez picked up her Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifiers in the 500 and 1000 freestyle, winning the former with a time of 5:24.95. She finished second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:55.87. Bertram won both the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle, posting times of 59.37 and 1:58.97, respectively.
Spradling took home first place honors in the 200 IM with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:15.06 while also qualifying in the 100 breaststroke with a second place finish of 1:09.89. Chalk had a successful collegiate debut, winning the 100 backstroke with a qualifying time of 1:02.18 and coming in fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.24.
Also hitting PSAC qualifying times in their first career meets were freshmen
Taylor Davis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J Roberts) in the 100 butterfly and
Taylor Cisik (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) in the 100 backstroke, with times of 2:19.37 and 1:02.26, respectively.
The Crimson Hawks return to the pool next Saturday with another dual meet, this one in Shippensburg against the Raiders on Saturday, Oct. 24.
