No. 4 West Chester Gets the Best of IUP Field Hockey on Saturday

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The IUP field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to fourth-ranked West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
 
The loss was the second of the weekend for the Crimson Hawks, who fall to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC. West Chester improves to 8-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
 
Sophomore McKenzie Noll (Lewisburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) scored the only goal of the game for the Crimson Hawks, tying the score at 1-1 in the 21st minute. It was her second goal of the season, as junior Sarah Zielinski (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) assisted on the score.
 
West Chester opened up the scoring in the fourth minute, and took a 2-1 lead into halftime with a goal in the 28th. The Golden Rams scored their final goal in the 48th minute.
 
The Crimson Hawks tallied 13 shots on the day, four more than West Chester's nine. IUP also finished with 11 penalty corners compared the just three for the Golden Rams.
 
The Crimson Hawks have two road games head of them this week, beginning with a road trip to Erie to take on Mercyhurst on Wednesday.
