Women’s Soccer Finishes to 1-1 Draw with Cal on the Road

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The IUP women's soccer team finished to a 1-1 tie with California (Pa.) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) match on Wednesday afternoon.
 
IUP is now 6-4-2 overall on the year and 5-3-2 in conference play. The Vulcans are 4-5-3 and 4-4-3 in the PSAC.
 
Sophomore Mackenna Miller (Milton, Pa. /Milton) scored the Crimson Hawks' only goal, getting things started in the ninth minute of action. Junior Keirsten Zerbe and sophomore Lexie Palluconi (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) were credited with assists on the give and go play in the box.
 
It was Miller's third goal of the year, while it was assist number six for Palluconi and two for Zerbe.
 
The game would remain scoreless for the next 61 minutes until the Vulcans scored in the 70th minute to tie things up. Both teams had three shots in the 20 minutes of extra time, both nothing was able to get passed IUP's Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) and Cal's Meghan Jayes in the net.
 
Printz finished with four saves on the day. The Crimson Hawks had 13 shots, including eight on goal. Cal had 11 shots and five on goal. Both teams tallied three corners.
 
The Crimson Hawks hit the road again this Saturday, heading east to face West Chester (8-3, 7-3 PSAC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
