INDIANA, Pa. – In a three set match in which each game was decided by just two points, the IUP women's volleyball team fell to visiting Seton Hill on Saturday afternoon at the Kovalchick Complex.
All three sets were decided by two points, with Seton Hill wins of 25-23 in sets one and three, along with a marathon 33-31 victory in the second set.
The loss was the third in a row for the Crimson Hawks, who fall to 16-14 overall and 8-12 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Seton Hill improved to 21-12 and 12-8.
Senior
Meghan Schneider (Lake Geneva, Wis. /Big Foot) and sophomore
Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) each had a team-high nine kills on the afternoon. Fellow sophomore
Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa. /Indiana) and freshman
Sami Brown (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) each had seven kills. Junior
Lindsay Moeller (Troy, Mich./Troy) finished with 25 assists.
Freshman
Jess Marut (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) had 25 digs and Cignetti added 18. Sophomore
Gabrielle Egler (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Obama Academy) had a team-high six block assists.
The Crimson Hawks wrap up their season next weekend with matches against Mercyhurst on Friday and Gannon on Saturday. Friday's matchup with Mercyhurst will be at the Memorial Field House.
