Women's Soccer Drops 4-0 Match at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Junior goalkeeper Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) collected five saves, but IUP women's soccer couldn't generate enough offense in a 4-0 setback against Slippery Rock Saturday in Slippery Rock.

The Crimson Hawks(2-3-1, 2-2-1) had trouble all day on the offensive end, as the team tried its best to break through the The Rock's back line, but to no avail. Printz denied a Slippery Rock shot in the first minute to keep the game in check.

Slippery Rock got in the board with a goal in the 6th minute. Minutes later, sophomore Lexie Palluconi (Penfield, N.Y./Fairport) got a shot off, but her equalizing effort was saved by Slippery Rock's Charlotte Elrod. Printz faced 11 shots in the first half, as Slippery Rock led 3-0.

In the second half, both teams had scoring opportunities, with only Slippery Rock taking advantage. A 61st minute goal put the final touches on the 4-0 victory for The Rock.

For IUP, junior Kiersten Zerbe (Danville, Pa. /Danville) had two shots on goal. The Crimson Hawks also generated two corner kicks in the game.

IUP gets back in action Wednesday with an away match against Lock Haven. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
