Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. – Freshman
Kalista Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) scored her first career goal, but it was IUP's only score of the afternoon as the Crimson Hawks' field hockey team lost to eighth-ranked Limestone 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
IUP falls to 1-1 on the season with the loss, which followed the Crimson Hawks' dramatic comeback 3-2 overtime win at Newberry on Saturday.
Limestone (1-0) put the first score on the board, getting a breakaway goal in the 15th minute. It didn't take long for the Crimson Hawks to tie the score as Gioglio knotted things up just four minutes later.
The score would remain tied at the break, with the game playing fairly even on both sides with four shots from each team. The Crimson Hawks held the edge in penalty corners 5-1.
Limestone came on strong in the second half, netting goals in the 44th and 49th minutes to take a two score lead. The Saints then played tough defense the rest of the way, not allowing a single IUP shot over the final 29 minutes to secure the win.
Junior
