Clarion (10-9, 7-6 PSAC) wiped away a 15-point deficit early in the second with a 19-7 run, cutting the Crimson Hawks' lead to 53-50 with 13 minutes to play. The Golden Eagles then tied the game at 57-57 with 9:11 to play.

IUP responded and with the help of back-to-back buckets by sophomore forward CJ Rudisill (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette), went back on top by five at 68-63 with 6:34 to play. IUP later scored six straight points, with a 15-footer by Spain giving the Crimson Hawks a 74-66 lead with five minutes to play.
