Norfleet Impresses as Crimson Hawks Extend Win Streak to nine with win at Cal

Senior guard Brandon Norfleet notched his fourth 20-point performance in his last five games to help lead the Crimson Hawks to their ninth straight victory.

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Senior guard Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) finished with a game-high 25 points to lead the IUP men's basketball team to an 85-60 road win over California (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.
 
The win was the ninth straight for the Crimson Hawks, who once again have taken over sole possession of first place in the PSAC Western Division with a 12-3 league record. They own a 15-5 overall record on the season.
 
Norfleet was the star all over the court, adding six rebounds, five assists and two blocks to his 25 points. He finished 9-of-20 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three, and connected on a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line. It was his 13th 20-point game of the season, inc[luding five straight, as the senior leads the PSAC with 22.7 points per game.
 
Norfleet was one of four players to reach double-figures in scoring for the Crimson Hawks. Sophomore guard Anthony Glover (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) scored 15 points, while senior forward Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) came off the bench to score 13 and junior guard Brandon Spain (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie) finished with 10.
 
IUP shot 54.8 percent (34-of-62) from the floor on the night, including 8-of-19 from three-point range. The Crimson Hawks also connected on 9-of-11 from the foul line and outrebounded Cal 36-to-24 while forcing 13 turnovers.
 
The Crimson Hawks held onto a 19-18 lead midway through the first half before going on a 17-7 run to go on top by 11 points. IUP would take a 44-30 lead into the half.
 
IUP opened the second half with a 12-3 run and later went on a 12-4 run to cruise to the 25-point road win.
 
The PSAC West-leading Crimson Hawks take their nine-game win streak into this Saturday's rivalry game against Gannon. Tipoff at the Kovalchick Complex is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
