Men's Hoops Goes for 10 Straight on Saturday against Rival Gannon

THE GAME AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks look for their 10th straight win on Saturday when they host division-rival Gannon. Tipoff at the Kovalchick Complex is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. IUP is coming off of a convincing 85-60 road win at California (Pa.) on ESPN 3 on Wednesday night to retake sole possession of first place in the PSAC West with a 12-3 league record. The Crimson Hawks will be looking the for the season sweep of Gannon, defeating the Golden Knights 72-61 in Erie back on Dec. IUP also has the most overall wins in the division with a 15-5 record. Gannon is battling through a tough year after winning the conference title a season ago. The Golden Knights have dropped four of their last five, including a 74-61 home loss to Edinboro on Wednesday. 

The game will be broadcast on WQMU 92.5 FM with the voice of IUP Athletics, Jack Benedict, calling the action. You can also listen on u92radio.com and on the u92radio app on your smartphone. 

STORYLINES
• IUP's current nine-game win streak is its longest since winning 14 straight to start the 2013-14 season
• IUP is 8-1 against PSAC West opponents this year, owning an eight-game divisional win-streak that dates back to their 72-61 win at Gannon on Dec. 1
• This game marks the 302nd of Joe Lombardi's IUP tenure, the third most of any coach in program history (Carl Davis and Peck McKnight, 323)
• IUP owns a 9-2 home record this year, outscoring opponents 78.0 to 67.5; The Crimson Hawks are 8-2 in games played at the Kovalchick Complex
• Gannon has yet to win a game on the road this year, going 0-7 while being outscored by 12 points a game
• HC Joe Lombardi is 10-9 in his career against Gannon, including a 5-4 record at home; He's looking for his first season sweep of the Golden Knights since the 2011-12 season
• IUP is outscoring opponents by an average of 16.6 points during its win streak; It's largest win was the 27-point victory at Cheyney
• IUP is second in the PSAC and 24th in the nation giving up 67.7 points per game; The Crimson Hawks have limited opponents to 70 or fewer points 12 times, including each of the last two games
• The Crimson Hawks have also held 19 of their 20 opponents under their season scoring average
• IUP's game at 10th-ranked Fairmont State on Dec. 12 was the Crimson Hawks' first regular season game against a ranked opponent in recent history, as IUP's nationally-ranked opponents usually come in the postseason; IUP went 3-1 against ranked opponents in the NCAA tournament last year
• The Crimson Hawks have played six games against 2015 NCAA tournament teams and have a 4-2 record in those games, with wins over University of the Sciences (72-64), American International (77-60), at Gannon (72-61), and against Slippery Rock (89-71) and losses at Mercyhurst (64-57) and at Fairmont State (85-72); IUP has three more games against tournament teams from last year - Gannon, Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock

BRANDON NORFLEET AMONG BEST PLAYERS IN THE PSAC
Sr. G Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) is IUP's top scoring threat and statistically all-around best player. He leads IUP in scoring, field goals made, free throws made, three-point percentage, free throw percentage, assists, and minutes played. He's also second three-pointers made, total rebounds and steals. 
• Norfleet is the only player in the Atlantic Region (42 teams) to average at least 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game
• Norfleet scored a career-high 38 points against Seton Hill (Jan. 20); The point total is the second most in the PSAC this season
• Norfleet has 13 20-point games, including a current streak of five streak, and has three 30-point performances
• Norfleet has a PSAC West Athlete of the Week award to his credit (Jan. 11)
• Norfleet has scored 1,469 career points and has 74 double-digit scoring games; He has 1,116 points in 79 games at IUP (14.1/game)
• Norfleet tied a career-high with nine assists vs. Cal (Dec. 16) and grabbed a season-high nine rebounds at Shippensburg (Dec. 4)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and ranks No. 12 in the country in total points (453)
• Norfleet is No. 1 in the PSAC and No. 17 in the country in points per game (22.7)
• Norfleet is No. 1 the PSAC and ranks No. 6 in the country in field goals made (168)
• Norfleet is No. 8 in the PSAC in field goal percentage (.493)
• Norfleet is No. 9 in the PSAC in free throws made (82)
• Norfleet is No. 11 in the PSAC in free throw percentage (.804)
• Norfleet is No. 3 in the PSAC in assists (86)
• Norfleet is No. 4 in the PSAC in assists per game (4.3)

ANTHONY GLOVER HAS BEEN AN ADDED SCORING THREAT
So. G Anthony Glover (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) has been a welcome addition in his first year after transferring from Chicago State.
• Glover is third on the team with 10.7 points per game
• Glover has reached double-figures in scoring 10 times, including three 20-point performances
• Glover scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting at Kutztown (Dec. 5)
• He made a career-high six three-pointers and scored 20 points at Pitt-Johnstown (Jan. 13)
• Glover ranks third in the PSAC with a 43.6 three-point field percentage and is fifth with 44 made three-pointers
• Glover grabbed a career-high nine rebounds against Urbana (Nov. 13) and has a season-high four assists against Seton Hill (Jan. 20)

CRIMSON HAWKS FEATURE TOP TWO FRESHMEN IN PSAC WEST
Fr. F Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) and Fr. G Dante Lombardi (Indiana, Pa./The Kiski School) have won a combined five of the 10 PSAC West Freshman of the Week awards this season. They've both played in all 20 games and while they are now valuable threats off the bench, Diaz and Lombardi have combined for 14 starts.
• Diaz was named PSAC West Freshman of the Week on Jan. 11 and Jan. 25; Lombardi earned top freshman honors on Nov. 23, Nov. 30, and Jan. 18
• Diaz leads IUP with 6.6 rebounds per game and 131 total boards; He's fifth with 8.0 points per game
• Lombardi is fourth on the team with 8.5 points per game and second with 56 assists

BRANDON SPAIN FINDING HIS NITCH
Jr. G Brandon Spain (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie) has stepped up his game since being reinserted into the starting lineup against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9). In five starts since, he's averaging 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds and is shooting 60.6 percent (20-of-33) from the floor. 
• Spain leads IUP and is fourth in the PSAC with 37 steals
• He has 11 multi-steal games, including a season-high five steals in 27 minutes at Cal (Jan. 27)
• Scored season-high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting and had five rebounds against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9)

DADDY UGBEDE AGAIN PERFORMING CONSISTENTLY
Sr. F Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) is second on the team with 11.9 points per game despite playing in just 19.2 minutes per contest. His 70.0 field goal percentage would rank first in the PSAC and third in the country if he had enough made field goals to qualify. 
• He's averaging 17.6 points and shooting 82.8 percent (24-of-29) from the field in his last three games
• Ugbede had a season-high 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting in 23 minutes against Slippery Rock (Jan. 9)
• He's reached double-figures in scoring in each of his last five
• He's made 50 percent of his shots in 16 of 18 games
