Men’s Basketball Wins Fourth Straight with 22-point Victory over Millersville

INDIANA, Pa. – Senior guard Brandon Norfleet (Virginia Beach, Va. /Landstown) scored a game-high 19 points to help lead IUP to a 78-56 win over visiting Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's basketball contest on Wednesday night at the Kovalchick Complex.

The win was the fourth straight for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 10-5 overall and 7-3 in the PSAC. IUP is averaging nearly 84 points over their last three wins and have held opponents under 65 points three times during its current four-game win streak.

The four straight wins matches the Crimson Hawks' longest win streak of the season as they remain in second place in the PSAC West, one game back of division-leading Edinboro, which IUP defeated back on Dec. 19.

Norfleet went 7-of-16 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the foul line, adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals to his 37-minute stat line. It was his 100th career game (74th at IUP) and the 69th time he's reached double-figures in scoring. He's scored at least 10 points in all 15 games this season.

Senior forward Daddy Ugbede (Gardena, Calif./Serra) notched his first double-double of the season – and third of his career – with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 16 minutes. He went 4-of-6 from the field and 2-of-2 from the line, with five of his boards coming on the offensive end.

Junior guard Brandon Spain (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie) was a stat-filler, finishing with eight points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block in 25 minutes off the bench. Freshman forward Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) went for 16 points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes of playing time.

The Crimson Hawks outscored Millersville (2-12, 2-8 PSAC) by 11 in each half – 34-23 in the first and 44-33 in the second. They outshot the Marauders 42 percent to 37.7 percent and held the rebounding edge, 46 to 33. IUP also forced Millersville into 21 turnovers on the evening.

IUP returns to the court on Saturday afternoon, hosting Slippery Rock (8-7, 3-6 PSAC) at the Kovalchick Complex. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
