IUP Women's Soccer comes up short in 2-0 loss to Bloomsburg

INDIANA, Pa. – Despite a 14-7 shot advantage, the IUP women's soccer team fell at home to Bloomsburg 2-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday afternoon. The game was played at nearby Indiana High School due to wet field conditions at South Campus Field after continuous rain the past few days.

With the loss, the Crimson Hawks fall to 8-8 overall and 7-7 in league play. Meanwhile Bloomsburg improves to 8-6-2 behind a 7-6-2 mark in conference competition.

Maureen Leis found the back of the net for the Huskies in the 10th minute as she scored on a shot from inside the box off assists from Allie Camp and Megan Callan. Bloomsburg then added a goal from Jessica Stupp at the 17:42-mark. Stupp took a pass from Allie Barber from outside of the box before finding the back of the net. IUP responded just minutes later as the Crimson Hawks had a shot blocked, one go wide and another sail high all in under a two minute stretch. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) made her only save at the 38:07-mark as she stopped a shot from Camp.

IUP nearly cut the lead in half early in the second half as a shot from Kiersten Zerbe (Danville, Pa. /Danville) was saved by Devon Haviland off a corner kick in the 54th minute. The Crimson Hawks continued to mount the pressure as they outshot the Huskies by an 8-2 margin in the second half. McKenna Keffel (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) had a shot go wide in the 61st minute before a shot from Zerbe also went wide at the 63:23-mark. Kallie Conte (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) had her shot saved in the 74th minute. Just minutes later Hannah Stoof (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) nearly found the back of the net after her shot was saved.

The Crimson Hawks return to PSAC play when they travel to square off against Edinboro on Tuesday, October 25 at 6 p.m.
