Women's Soccer Opens up PSAC Quarterfinals at West Chester

THE GAME
The Crimson Hawks enter the 2016 PSAC tournament as the eighth seed and travel to West Chester to square off against the top seed Golden Rams. IUP enters the PSAC tournament on the heels of a 2-2 draw with Shippensburg on Saturday. West Chester defeated Seton Hill 1-0 in its regular season finale Saturday. The winner of the IUP/West Chester game will play the winner of the fourth seed East Stroudsburg vs. fifth seed Slipper Rock winner on Friday at 11 a.m. at the higher seed. The Crimson Hawks enter the PSAC tournament for the first time since 2014 after going 9-8-1 and 8-7-1 in PSAC play during the regular season. West Chester was 17-0 overall and 16-0 in league play during the season.

STORYLINES
• IUP is in the PSAC tournament for the fifth time in the past seven seasons and the first time since 2014 while making the program's 13th all-time appearance in PSAC postseason play
• IUP holds an 8-10 record all time in PSAC tournament play
• IUP and West Chester will meet for just the third time in the PSAC championships. The Golden Rams defeated the Crimson Hawks 2-1 in the championship game in 2006 as and earned a 4-1 win in the 2009 conference semifinals.

THE NOTEBOOK

SECOND TIME AROUND
IUP and West Chester met during the regular season with the Golden Rams recording a 3-1 victory in Indiana back on October 8. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) totaled five saves while McKenna Keffel (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) tied the game with a goal in the 24th minute. Junior Lexie Palluconi (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) nearly gave IUP a lead when her shot was saved in the 53rd minute.

LEADING THE WAY
Palluconi is tied for the lead or leads the Crimson Hawks in several offensive categories including points (19), goals (eight), assists (three), shots on goal (26), and game-winning goals (3). She also ranks among the top 10 in the PSAC in goals and goals per game.  

SPREADING THE WEALTH
Four different players have scored a game-winning goal this season for the Crimson Hawks, led by a team-high three from classmates Palluconi and Cassidy LeDonne (Murrysville, Pa. /Franklin Regional). Keffel was next with two game winners and senior Kiersten Zerbe (Danville, Pa. /Danville) tallied one game-winning goal. Palluconi and LeDonne each rank in the top 10 of the PSAC in game-winning goals.
