INDIANA, Pa. – Sophomore
Kallie Conte (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) posted her first career hat trick to lead IUP women's soccer to a 4-0 conference win over visiting California (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon at South Campus Field.
Conte's goals helped the Crimson Hawks stop their two-game losing streak to improve to 7-5 overall and 6-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). IUP remains in a tie for fifth place with Kutztown with 18 points in the standings.
IUP took advantage of a depleted California team, rebounding from back-to-back shutout losses to Kutztown and East Stroudsburg this past weekend. The Crimson Hawks held a 19-6 advantage in shots on the afternoon.
Conte upped her season goal total to four on the year.
Kristen Baumgartner (Phoenixville, Pa./Spring-Ford),
Lexie Palluconi (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport),
Hannah Stoof (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and
Kiersten Zerbe (Danville, Pa. /Danville) were all credited with goals. Senior
Jessica Printz (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) played all 90 minutes in the net and earned her fourth shutout of the season.
The Crimson Hawks have one more game this week when they host undefeated and 11th-ranked West Chester (10-0, 10-0 PSAC) on Saturday.
