The Crimson Hawks finish the 2016 portion of their schedule when they travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday for the Notre Dame (Ohio)/IUP Winter Challenge. The IUP men's and women's swimming teams are coming off its first loss of the season last Saturday when the men fell 173-121 to Clarion and the women dropped a 172-120 decision to the Golden Eagles.
STORYLINES
• The Crimson Hawks and Falcons square off against each other in dual meet action for the first time in recent memory

Andrew Richey (Warminster, Pa. /William Tennent) and sophomore
Bria Otwell (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) were named the IUP Athletes of the Week for their performances against Clarion last weekend. Richey tallied three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying times against Clarion on Saturday. He earned wins in the 50 freestyle (22.14) and swam a leg on the victorious 200 free relay team. He also placed third in the 100 free with a time of 49.72. Otwell won both the 500 free (5:23.62) and the 200 fly (2:12.97) in conference championship qualifying times. She also recorded a third place showing in the 200 IM finishing with a time of 2:18.95.
• Against Clarion junior
Sterling Tate (York, PA/Dallastown) and Richey each tallied three PSAC championship qualifying times. Richey earned wins in the 50 freestyle (22.14) and teamed with
Noah Brockway (York, PA/Dallastown),
Corey Stauffer (York, Pa. /Dallastown), and
RJ Hammond (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) to win the 200 free relay (1:27.50). Richey also recorded a third place showing in the 100 free (49.72). Tate won the 200 free (1:47.42), finished second in the 100 free (49.07) and placed third in the 500 free (4:59.50).
• The women were paced by Otwell and
Nicole Smith (Dover, PA/Dover). Otwell won both the 500 free (5:23.62) and the 200 fly (2:12.97) while Smith won the 100 free (54.00), the 200 free (1:56.49) and placed second in the 50 free (25.31).
