SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The IUP men's and women's swimming teams earned a sweep of Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon as the men recorded a 134-48 victory while the women cruised to a 120-42 win.
Both the Crimson Hawks men's and women's teams improved to 4-1 in dual meets this year while the Falcon men fall to 2-3 and the women dropped to 1-4 on the season.
Sophomore
RJ Hammond (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) paced the men as he recorded two wins. He won the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.21 and won the 200 free winning in 1:53.64. Classmate
Noah Brockway (York, PA/Dallastown) tallied a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship time while winning the 50 free (22.33). Senior
Chris Strauss (Allentown, Pa. /Parkland) also recorded a conference qualifying time of 10:26.40 in winning the 1000 free.
Rounding out the Crimson Hawks wins was
Robert Jones (Biglerville, PA/Biglerville) (5:13.20) in the 500 free,
Colter Long (Hollidaysburg, Pa. /Hollidaysburg Area) (24.36) in the 50 butterfly,
Sterling Tate (York, PA/Dallastown) (25.26) in the 50 backstroke and
Shane Hallett (Boiling Springs, Pa. /Boiling Springs) (27.57) in the 50 breaststroke.
The sophomore duo of
Bria Otwell (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) and
Taylor Cisik (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) led the women as they combined for three wins and two PSAC championship times. Otwell won both 200 free (2:02.48) and the 500 free (5:21.99). Her time in the 500 free earned her a PSAC qualifying time. Cisik recorded a conference championship time of 25.66 in winning the 50 free.
Completing the IUP wins was
Lindsey Aman (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) (57.49) in the 100 free,
Sophia Manges (Indiana, Pa./Indiana High School) in the 1000 free (11:30.66),
Taylor Davis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J Roberts) in the 50 fly (28.03),
Nicole Smith (Dover, PA/Dover) in the 50 back (29.45) and
Taylor Campbell (Butler, Pa. /Butler) in the 50 breast (33.09).
