No. 20 Women’s Lacrosse Runs Win Streak to Five with Road Victory at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Bailey McLeish (Courtice, Ontario/Anderson C.V.I) scored three times off the bench, helping 20th-ranked IUP to a strong second half start en route to a 15-11 win at Bloomsburg on Friday afternoon.

McLeish scored all three of her goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half as IUP used a 7-0 run to break open a tight game at halftime. It was the fifth straight win for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 7-3 overall and 5-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Bloomsburg falls to 3-6 and 1.5.

IUP took a 7-6 lead into halftime after a back-and-forth first half. The Crimson Hawks gained momentum in the second half, scoring three goals in the first eight minutes and outscoring Bloomsburg 7-0 in the first 20 minutes. IUP didn't allow a Bloomsburg shot on goal until 9:19 to play in the game as the Huskies scored to end the IUP run and make it a 14-7 game.

The Huskies' goal was the start of a 4-0 run as they tried to get back into the game. IUP ended the run with a Bri Chavis (Sykesville,Md./Century) goal at 3:05 and held Bloomsburg to just one goal the rest of the way to clinch the win.

10 different Crimson Hawks scored a goal on Friday. Along with McLeish, Ally Burrows (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), Brittany Palardy and Riley Greenleaf (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) each had multi-goal games. Palardy finished with two goals, six ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Amy Weinberg (Clarksville, Md./Atholton) dished out three assists and had five draw controls.
