SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior goalie
Alyssa Lerda (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) posted a career-high nine saves but third-ranked Shippensburg was too strong on both sides of the field as IUP field hockey lost to the Raiders 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Crimson Hawks fell to 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with the loss, while Shippensburg improved to 9-1 and 2-0.
Shippensburg held the advantage for all 70 minutes, posting 23 total shots with 12 on goal. IUP was able to gain some territorial edges in the second half with some rushes up field, including multiple corners, but we're ultimately kept at bay the by the Ship defense.
