INDIANA, Pa. – Junior
Lexie Palluconi (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute, helping IUP women's soccer to a 2-1 comeback victory over visiting Clarion on Saturday afternoon at South Campus Field.
Palluconi's score was her first of the season and came off a pass from freshman
McKenna Keffel (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon). The goal put the Crimson Hawks on top of Clarion 2-1 with 17 minutes to play in the game. It was IUP's first win of the year, evening its record at 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
All of the scoring was done in the second half, with Clarion getting on the board in the 47th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Junior
Megan Coyne (Fairview Park, Ohio/Fairview Park) tied things up, notching her first goal of the year on a penalty kick in the 67th minute.
The Crimson Hawks dominated both ends of the pitch, outshooting Clarion (0-2, 0-2 PSAC) 16-3 on the day, including 8-2 in the second half. IUP also held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks on the afternoon.
IUP continues its three-game home stand to start the year, hosting non-conference foe Davis & Elkins on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m.
