EDINBORO, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks combined for 12 event victories as the IUP men's and women's swimming teams each defeated Edinboro in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon. The men won 111-86 while the women were 111-93 winners.
RESULTS
Five men's individuals won races, getting a sixth victory in the 200 medley relay. Brothers
Colter Long (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) and
Mace Long (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area) won the 200 IM and 200 butterfly, respectively, with times of 2:00.54 and 1:58.64.
Lucas Bellier (Orléans, France) won the 1000 freestyle at 10:12.08 while Mason Tate was a winner in the 100 free at 48.36, and
Shane Hallett (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:12.80.
All five individual times were Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying finishes.
For the women,
Nicole Smith (Dover, PA/Dover) won a pair of freestyle races, finishing with times of 54.29 in the 100 and 1:56.54 in the 200. Both were PSAC qualifiers.
Regan Chalk (Hanover, PA/New Oxford) and
Bria Otwell (Sarver, Pa./Freeport) also hit conference qualifying times in their wins, winning the 200 backstroke (2:13.01) and 500 freestyle (5:24.62), respectively.
Beatriz Gonzalez (Barcelona, Spain/Pane Manyanet) won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:11.05.
The IUP women also won the 200 medley relay.
The dual was the second of three straight for both teams to open their 2017-18 seasons. The teams split with Shippensburg at the beginning of October.

Dual meet number three will be at home for the Crimson Hawks, when they host Saint Vincent on Nov. 4 at Pidgeon Natatorium.
