SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior outside hitter
Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) had 17 kills and the IUP defense had 11 team blocks as the Crimson Hawks took down Shippensburg in three sets on Saturday afternoon at the Heiges Field House.
The 17 kills for Cignetti were a match-high as the Crimson Hawks won their second of the weekend and improved to 19-7 overall and 10-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
The back-to-back wins this weekend were huge for the Crimson Hawks, as they moved into a first place tie with Seton Hill in the Southwest Division with that 10-3 league record. That's also tied for the second best record in the entire conference.
Shippensburg entered the day with a league-best 11-1 record and are now 19-7 overall (11-2 PSAC) after today's loss.
IUP won by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-17.
Senior setter
Katie Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) stayed on her pace with 33 assists in three sets. She helped the Crimson Hawks hit .239 as a team.
Defensively, freshman
Shelby Miles (New Castle, Pa./Laurel) and sophomore
Jessica Ignace (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) combined for 13 block assists, while senior
Gabby Egler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Barack Obama Academy) had three assists and one solo. They limited a typically strong Shippensburg offensive attach that hit just .120 for the day.

The Crimson Hawks have a home weekend on tap, with PSAC opponents Lock Haven on Friday and Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. IUP will also play Point Park on Saturday night.
