WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Junior guard
Carolyn Appleby (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) scored 26 points and junior forward
Brittany Robinson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) had 20 points and 11 rebounds to help the seventh-ranked IUP women's basketball team to an 86-75 win over West Chester on Saturday afternoon.
It was a season-high for Appleby and the first double-double of the year for Robinson, as the Crimson Hawks improved to 6-0 on the year. They are also 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
Appleby finished 8-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-7 from three-point range, and 4-of-6 from the foul line in scoring a season-high. Robinson was also efficient from the field at 8-of-13, while also collecting three steals and two blocks.
IUP shot 48 percent from the field and made 10 3-pointers on the afternoon, as four players reached double-figures in scoring. Joining Appleby and Robinson as top scorers were senior forward
Megan Smith (Blain, Pa./West Perry) with 15 points and sophomore forward
Maura D'Anna (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) had 10 points.
