IUP Football named No. 1 seed in national semifinals, will host West Florida

INDIANAPOLIS – After winning the Super Region One Championship with a 27-22 victory over Assumption, IUP football has been named the top seed in the NCAA Division II national semifinals and will host West Florida Saturday, Dec. 9. Kickoff will be noon at George P. Miller Stadium.
 
At 13-0, the Crimson Hawks are the only undefeated team remaining and the only No. 1 regional seed that advanced to the semifinals. IUP received a first round bye before defeating No. 5 seed West Chester 44-10 last week. Assumption was the region's No. 3 seed.
 
West Florida earned the No. 4 seed in the semifinals after a 28-21 win over West Alabama in the Super Region Two title game earlier today. The No. 6 seed in their region, the Argonauts defeated No. 3 seed Wingate 31-0 in the opening round and No. 7 seed West Georgia 17-14 last week.
 
They play out of the Gulf Coast Conference and enter next weekend's matchup with a 10-3 overall record.
 
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
 
IUP in the NCAA playoffs
The Crimson Hawks are making the program's 18th all-time NCAA Division II Championships appearance, including their third straight and fourth since 2012. This will be IUP's seventh national semifinal game and first since 1999.
