WISE, Va. – Sophomore
Ally Burrows (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) scored a season-high six goals as 16th-ranked IUP women's lacrosse posted an 18-2 victory over UVA-Wise on Saturday morning.
The win was the first of the year for the Crimson Hawks, who finish off their spring break week with a 1-2 record.
The six goals give Burrows a team-high 10 on the year. Fellow sophomore
Adriana Greco (Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point) added three goals, while junior
Riley Greenleaf (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield), and second-year players
Kendall Loviscky (State College, Pa./State College) and
Bri Chavis (Sykesville,Md./Century) each scored twice.
Other stat leaders include freshman
Kelly Shields (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) with four assists, senior
Hannah Bertolo (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) with ground balls, and senior
Kim Hooven (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) with two caused turnovers.
Fast start for the Crimson Hawks
IUP scored six goals in the game's first 14 minutes to take a commanding lead. Burrows scored twice during that early onslaught, with her first goal just 47 seconds behind Greco's first to give the Crimson Hawks a 3-0 lead.
After a UVA-Wise (5-2) goal at 11:07, the Crimson Hawks rattled off five straight before the half to keep the clock running as they entered the final 30 minutes of play.
IUP closes out second half
With that running clock, Hooven started the second half scoring at 28:10 as IUP scored six straight and seven of the final eight goals.

IUP returns to Pennsylvania next week with its conference-opener at Gannon on Tuesday.
