WEST CHESTER, Pa. – A 7-0 start for the Golden Rams was too much for 18th-ranked IUP women's lacrosse to overcome as the Crimson Hawks fell to No. 11 West Chester by a score of 20-9 on Saturday afternoon.
Adriana Greco (Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point) scored a team-high three goals for the Crimson Hawks, who lost for the first time in 11 days to fall to 7-5 overall and 6-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The loss drops IUP into a three-way tie with West Chester and Mercyhurst for second place in the league standings.
Greco stopped the Golden Rams early scoring run with IUP's first goal at 11:11 in the first half.
Carissa Smith (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick),
Bri Chavis (Sykesville,Md./Century) and
Lauren Robinson (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck High) added first half goals as the Crimson Hawks went into halftime trailing 11-4.
IUP matched West Chester's scoring 3-3 nine minutes into the second half, but the Golden Rams scored three straight and six of the final eight goals to close out the double-digit win.
Riley Greenleaf (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) finished with two goals and an assist, while Chavis (goal, two assists) also had three points on the afternoon.
Katie Martyn (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had six draw controls and two points.

IUP will host nationally-ranked Mercyhurst (8-3, 6-2) on Tuesday and Edinboro (1-11, 0-8) on Thursday next week.
