No. 11 West Chester too much for No. 18 IUP Women’s Lacrosse

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – A 7-0 start for the Golden Rams was too much for 18th-ranked IUP women's lacrosse to overcome as the Crimson Hawks fell to No. 11 West Chester by a score of 20-9 on Saturday afternoon.

Adriana Greco (Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point) scored a team-high three goals for the Crimson Hawks, who lost for the first time in 11 days to fall to 7-5 overall and 6-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The loss drops IUP into a three-way tie with West Chester and Mercyhurst for second place in the league standings.

Greco stopped the Golden Rams early scoring run with IUP's first goal at 11:11 in the first half. Carissa Smith (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick), Bri Chavis (Sykesville,Md./Century) and Lauren Robinson (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck High) added first half goals as the Crimson Hawks went into halftime trailing 11-4.

IUP matched West Chester's scoring 3-3 nine minutes into the second half, but the Golden Rams scored three straight and six of the final eight goals to close out the double-digit win.

Riley Greenleaf (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) finished with two goals and an assist, while Chavis (goal, two assists) also had three points on the afternoon. Katie Martyn (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding) had six draw controls and two points.
