INDIANA, PA. – With a total of 34 combined fouls between both teams, IUP battled from start to finish Saturday afternoon to grab a 2-1 win over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contender Bloomsburg University at South Campus Field.
Bloomsburg attacked fast in the first half, scoring their only goal at the 2:57-mark. The Crimson Hawks reacted, with a swarm attack on the net, that consisted of a chain reaction goal by junior midfielder Carly Donia, 22 minutes later in the first.
Tensions ran high throughout the game, with a total of four yellow cards handed out, between players and coaches from both teams.
Bloomsburg outshot IUP 12-4, along with shots on goal 4-2. Freshman goaltender
Makenzie Witzel (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) finished with three saves in her first collegiate match.

After game two of the season, IUP sits at a 1-1 record overall and 1-1 in the PSAC. The Crimson Hawks will be back in action Monday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m., as they travel to Elkins, West Virginia to face Davis and Elkins College.
