ELKINS, W.Va. –
Gianna Parlavecchio (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) and
McKenna Keffel (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) netted goals as the Crimson Hawks scored a 2-0 non-conference road win over Davis & Elkins on Labor Day.
Parlavecchio scored in the 12th minute and Keffel added her goal in the 82nd as IUP improved to 2-1 on the young season. Both goals were the first of the season for Parlavecchio and Keffel.
Brandie Bryant (Essex, Md./Eastern Technical) and
Kristen Baumgartner (Phoenixville, Pa./Spring-Ford) each assisted on the Keffel score.
Freshman goalie
Madeline Smakulski (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area High School) posted her first career shutout, keeping Davis & Elkins (0-2) off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes.
The IUP defense limited D&E to just seven shots, five on goal. The Crimson Hawks outshot D&E 10-1 in the first 45 minutes.
The game is the only non-conference matchup on the schedule for the Crimson Hawks, who won their second straight after Saturday's 2-1 home win over Bloomsburg.

The Crimson Hawks have a pair of games this week, heading to Slippery Rock on Wednesday night before hosting Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon.
