INDIANA, Pa. — Senior forward
Megan Smith (Blain, Pa./West Perry) posted her first double-double of the season, leading the Crimson Hawks to defeat visiting East Stroudsburg 79-61 at the Kovalchick Complex Wednesday night.
Smith scored a total of 15 points and 10 rebounds, adding three assists and two steals in 31 minutes of work.
IUP led most of the game, limiting the Warriors (9-4,7-2) to a 31 percent conversion rate from the floor, including going 3-of-23 from 3-point range. With the win, IUP remains undefeated with an overall record of 14-0.
Another standout player for IUP was redshirt junior
Lauren Wolosik (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic). Wolosik was close to a double-double, posting a season-high 10 assists and scoring nine points.
Junior forward
Brittany Robinson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and junior guard
Carolyn Appleby (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) were also key players in the Crimson Hawks defeat over the Warriors. Robinson posted 14 points and eight rebounds, going 7-of-10 from the field. Appleby scored 19 points, going 8-of-12 from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
Senior guard
Halle Denman (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) was a key player defensively for the Crimson Hawks. Denman totaled three steals and was matched up against East Stroudsburg's Imani Brown, limiting her to going 6-of-18 from the field and forcing four turnovers.
