INDIANA, Pa. — Senior guard
Anthony Glover, Jr. had himself a milestone night, surpassing 1,000 IUP career points and scoring a career-high 34 points in an 89-85 win over rival Slippery Rock at the Kovalchick Complex Monday night.
Glover had the hot hand from long distance, draining three 3-pointers during the first two minutes of the game and going 6-of-8 overall from 3-point range. Glover was a perfect 12-of-12 from the foul line and 8-of-15 from the field.
In three seasons with IUP, Glover reached 1,008 points and totaled 1,226 points in his collegiate career. Glover scored 218 points during his freshman year at Chicago State before transferring to IUP for the 2015-16 season.
Junior forward
Jacobo Diaz was another highlight for the Crimson Hawks, posting his seventh double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Cobo shot 9-of-17 from the field and 4-of-7 from the foul line.
The Crimson Hawks improve their record to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, winning each of their last six games in Indiana. With the win, IUP ended a 7-0 record in road and neutral site games for Slippery Rock, maintaining their all-time series lead over the Rock 106-76.
The first half was a struggle back-and-fourth, having a tied score three times before junior guard
Dante Lombardi hit a 3-pointer to improve IUP's lead by six at halftime. The Crimson Hawks enhanced their lead at the beginning of the second half with a 16-3 scoring run over Slippery Rock.
Lombardi scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half, shooting 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line overall.
IUP has won 29 straight home games against Slippery Rock, a streak that dates back to the 1992-93 season; IUP's last home loss to Slippery Rock was a 79-73 overtime defeat in 1991-92.
