INDIANA, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks opened their final home weekend of the season with a three-set loss to Kutztown Friday night at the Kovalchick Complex.
Kutztown won the match by scores of 25-9, 25-9 and 25-17.
This marked the first of four straight matches against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southeast Division opponents. IUP is now 7-18 overall and 3-9 in the conference. Kutztown is 10-12 overall and also 3-9 in league play.
The Golden Bears outhit the Crimson Hawks .405 to -.070 on the night, putting together 41 kills on 79 attacks. IUP had 16 kills on 86 attacks, with sophomore
Jasmine Raudys getting a team-high six on 14 attacks.
IUP's best performance came in the third set with nine kills and a .077 hitting percentage. The Crimson Hawks used an early run in the set to gain an 8-4 lead, but Kutztown took the lead at 11-10 and later scored seven straight points to open up its advantage.
