EDINBORO, Pa. – Junior
Jessica Ignace had 14 kills but too many hitting errors doomed the Crimson Hawks as the IUP women's volleyball team fell to Edinboro in four sets Saturday afternoon.
The Crimson Hawks totaled 159 attacks, the most in a four-setter this year, but ended up with 43 kills and 30 errors to hit .082. Edinboro finished with a .281 hitting percentage for the match.
IUP falls to 6-16 overall and 2-7 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. Edinboro improves to 10-9 overall and 3-6 in the league.
After a 25-15 opening set win by Edinboro, the Crimson Hawks rebounded nicely to hit .300 with 16 kills for a 25-23 victory in the second to tie the match.
The Fighting Scots won a close third 25-23 and then dominated the final set 25-13.
Sophomore
Shelby Miles helped out Ignace with an efficient afternoon, totaling eight kills on 11 attacks without an error. She added two blocks assists to finish with 10.0 points.
Seniors
Jess Marut and Breanna Damiana had 19 and nine digs, respectively, and each finished with two service aces.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks have a home weekend upcoming as they host Seton Hill Friday and California (Pa.) Saturday. Match times are 7 p.m. and 1 p.m.
