INDIANA, Pa. – Juniors
Lexi Griggs and
Natalie Myers each posted double-doubles to help the 5th-ranked IUP women's basketball team to an impressive season-opening 95-50 win over Alderson Broaddus Saturday afternoon at the Kovalchick Complex.
Griggs had 15 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes, going 7-of-13 from the field while adding three assists and two steals. Myers added 11 points and 10 boards in 26 minutes of action, going 4-of-6 from the field with three 3-pointers on the day. It was the first career double-double for each player.
Those were two of several individual and team highlights for the reigning Atlantic Region champions.
Redshirt senior guard
Lauren Wolosik led all scorers with 20 points going 8-of-14 from the field while making four 3-pointers. She also dished out eight assists and had three steals in 28 minutes.
She helped the Crimson Hawks shoot 50.0 percent from the field as they raced out to a 26-6 lead after the first quarter. IUP led 45-17 at halftime and scored 25 points in each the third and fourth quarters for a balanced effort from opening tipoff to final whistle.

The game was part of the season-opening PSAC/G-MAC Challenge hosted by the Crimson Hawks at the Kovalchick Complex this weekend … Clarion defeated Ohio Valley 58-48 in the day's first game … All 13 Crimson Hawks who played got into the scoring column, led by the three double-figure performances by Wolosik, Griggs and Myers … Wolosik now has 954 career points and is poised to become the 26th 1,000-point scorer in program history … senior forward
Brittany Robinson had two blocks, moving her into fourth place in IUP history with 131 for her career … IUP owned a 56-34 rebounding margin over Alderson Broaddus, including 23 offensive boards resulting in 28 second chance points … IUP improved to 5-1 in season-openers under head coach
