CHEYNEY, Pa. – With 13 different players in the scoring column, the fifth-ranked IUP women's basketball team remained undefeated after a 77-41 road win over Cheyney Tuesday afternoon at Cope Hall.
It was the first road game for the Crimson Hawks this year as they improved to 4-0 on the season with the 36-point victory.
The playing time and point totals for the Crimson Hawks were spread across their 13 players against winless Cheyney. Senior forward
Brittany Robinson scored a team-high 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting and 4-of-4 from the foul line in 21 minutes. Senior guard
Carolyn Appleby and junior forward
Lexi Griggs each had 10 points.
IUP struggled early, making just 10-of-29 from the field (34.5 percent) and scored 26 points in the opening half.
The Crimson Hawks came out hot in the third quarter, converting 11-of-15 attempts from the field and 9-of-11 from the foul line to score 32 points and put the game away. Robinson led eight IUP scorers in the quarter with eight points while
Ana Hollen added six points.
Cheyney took advantage of eight IUP turnovers in the fourth quarter to score 20 points and nearly double its game total. The Crimson Hawks remained hot from the field to keep its winning margin in the 30s.

The 32 points scored in the third is tied for the second most points scored in a quarter in program history … The 12 points allowed in the opening half is tied for the ninth fewest in program history … The Crimson Hawks outrebounded Cheyney 40-25, getting at least one rebound from each player … IUP got 31 points from its bench, with Hollen the highest scoring reserve at nine points … IUP went 18-of-23 (.783) from the foul line, its best performance of the season … The Crimson Hawks' 19 turnovers is their most this year.
