SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – IUP senior
Luise von Agris broke the program's all-time combined wins record in the Crimson Hawks' 9-0 victory over Slippery Rock Saturday morning.
Von Agris increased her career total to 190 combined singles and doubles victories, pushing past Tanya Timko's (2011-15) career 189 wins. It's the second program record broken for von Agris this season, as she set the career singles wins record a few weeks ago.
Saturday's win was the fifth straight for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division. It was also the fourth straight shutout win for IUP.
Von Agris tied Timko's wins record during doubles play, teaming with
Jarka Petercakova for an 8-4 win at No. 1. The record-breaking victory came at the No. 2 singles spot, defeating Carla Corrochano by a score of 6-0, 6-4. Her singles win was the last completed match of the day.
Also picking up two combined wins for IUP Saturday were Petercakova at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles,
Katya Minchenkova at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles,
Nicole Beidacki at No. 2 doubles and No. 4 singles,
Julia Newman at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles, and
Mariana Valenzuela at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Von Agris close to doubles record
Now the singles and combined wins record holder, von Agris is just four doubles wins away from tying Timko for the program mark of 103.
