No. 21 Crimson Hawks dominate Gannon in 20-7 road win

ERIE, Pa. – No. 21 IUP women's lacrosse saw 10 different players score in a balanced and dominating 20-7 victory over Gannon at McConnell Family Stadium Wednesday evening.
 
Juniors Ally Burrows (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and Adriana Greco (Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point) each scored four goals and assisted on two more as IUP improved to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
 
Burrows and Greco continue to be the highest scoring duo in the league. Burrows now has 47 goals and Greco 41, which rank second and third in the PSAC, respectively.
 
The Crimson Hawks scored early and often, tallying the game's first six goals and made it a running clock with 10 minutes still to play in the opening half. They outshot Gannon 25-to-12 in the first 30 minutes and 36-to-21 for the game.
 
Three of Burrows' four goals came in the first nine minutes as the Crimson Hawks took an 8-1 lead. Also scoring for IUP in the early going were Katie Martyn (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding), Greco, Lauren Robinson (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck High), Bri Chavis (Sykesville,Md./Century) and Riley Greenleaf (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield).
 
After back-to-back goals from Gannon (3-6, 2-5 PSAC), the Crimson Hawks scored five times over six minutes to make it a running clock before taking a 15-4 lead into the half.
 
IUP added five more goals in the quick moving second half, including the first career from Gianna Piocquido.
 
The win marked the seventh career for IUP head coach Mindy Richmond over her alma mater, all of those coming since 2013.

The Crimson Hawks will host Shippensburg (6-6, 2-5 PSAC) Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
