No. 21 IUP Women’s Lacrosse scores 17-5 win over Shippensburg on Senior Day

INDIANA, Pa. – The 21st-ranked IUP women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a 17-5 win over visiting Shippensburg Saturday afternoon at George P. Miller Stadium. Seniors Rachel Becker (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), Riley Greenleaf (Lansdale, Pa./Springfield) and Natalie Morano (Westbury, N.Y./W.T. Clarke) were honored prior to the game.
 
Junior Ally Burrows (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) nearly outscored Shippensburg on her own, finishing with five goals and an assist as the Crimson Hawks won their second game of the week to improve to 8-3 overall on the year.
 
IUP is also in a three-way tie for fifth place in the tightly contested Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with a 5-3 league record.
 
Adriana Greco (Sound Beach, N.Y./Rocky Point) scored four goals, including the first one of the day just 39 seconds into the action. Greenleaf and Burrows added goals over the next 10 minutes as the Crimson Hawks took an early 3-1 lead.
 
IUP went on runs of 3-0 and 4-0 in the first half, with Burrows scoring her third goal of the game – and 50th of the year – with eight seconds left to give the Crimson Hawks a 10-3 lead at the break. Burrows made it a running clock at 14-4 with her final score of the game as IUP scored five of the last six goals in the final 22:32 of play.
 
Greenleaf scored three goals for the Crimson Hawks, with Kelly Shields (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) and Bri Chavis (Sykesville,Md./Century) each adding two, and Chelsea Johnston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) scoring once. Lauren Piecknick (Upper Saint Clair, PA/Upper Saint Clair) posted her sixth 10-save outing of the season, including her third in a row.

The Crimson Hawks have a big week ahead with road games against the two teams they are tied with for fifth in the standings - at No. 23 Lock Haven Tuesday and at Bloomsburg Saturday.
