WASHINGTON, Pa. — Senior
Nate Dickey (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) went a combined 4-for-7 with two RBI, as IUP dropped both ends of a doubleheader with California, Friday afternoon at Wild Things Park.
The Vulcans took game one 7-1 and game two by a score of 5-3. IUP is now 15-27 overall and 10-16 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division.
A home run to left field by sophomore
Chris Eisel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) in the top of the sixth inning was the solo run scored by the Crimson Hawks in the first game. Eisel is hitting .372 and slugging .487 this season.
Redshirt junior
Matt Swartz (Sarver PA/Freeport) and Dickey each went 2-for-3 in game one. Dickey is hitting .325 and slugging .425 this season.
In the first game, California (25-19, 13-13 PSAC West) were the first to score after back-to-back home runs to left field in the bottom of the third inning. They scored four more runs in the fifth thru the sixth.
The Vulcans were the first on the board in game two, but the Crimson Hawks answered by scoring two runs from Dickey's single to center field. Swartz and redshirt senior
Chris Calliari (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) scored on the play, taking IUP up 2-1 in the top of the third. Calliari went 1-for-1 in game two, with two runs and one home run.
Despite taking the lead, the Vulcans came back to take game two.

The Crimson Hawks continue their series with California, Saturday at Dougherty Field. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
