The IUP field hockey team (1-3, 0-0 PSAC) takes to the road for the first time this season when they head west to Slippery Rock for a primetime matchup with The Rock Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The Crimson Hawks have dropped back-to-back games, including a 7-0 decision to No. 7 West Chester Saturday afternoon. Slippery Rock opened the season with three wins but is coming off its first loss of the year, a 1-0 decision at home to Division III Washington & Jefferson.

NOTES
>> The Crimson Hawks have three more games against PSAC opponents that are not counted in the league standings. Their official conference opener is Oct. 3 against Slippery Rock at home.
>> Slippery Rock clipped IUP 2-1 in the last meeting between these two teams, Sept. 27 of last year at Slippery Rock. The Crimson Hawks did sweep the season series in 2016 and won the 2015 meeting by a score of 5-2.
>> The Rock has one of the highest scoring offenses in the conference in the early going of 2018, ranking third with 3.75 goals per game. They outscored St. Thomas Aquinas and American International a combined 13-1 in their first two games.
>> Senior goalie Olivia Accardi weathered the storm against No. 7 West Chester and posted a career-high 17 saves. It's the most saves by an IUP goalie since Lydia Dolly had 21 against Bloomsburg in 2007.
>> Sophomore back Madalyn Christen has stepped up in her first year as a starter, leading the PSAC with three defensive saves through four games.
