LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior
Jessica Ignace posted a career-high 15 kills to help lead IUP women's volleyball to a four-set win at Lock Haven Saturday afternoon.
The win was the second of the weekend for the Crimson Hawks, who wrapped up a road sweep of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division opponents. They also defeated Bloomsburg in three sets Friday night.
Ignace tallied her 15 kills on 43 total attacks, adding four block assists for 17.0 total points on the afternoon, another career-best.
She helped IUP (6-11, 2-2 PSAC) rally after a 25-15 opening set loss with three straight wins of 25-21, 25-22 and 27-25.
The 46 team kills for the Crimson Hawks Saturday are their second most in a match this season and the most in a four-setter.
Chipping in offensively was freshman
Kylie Osborn, who finished with 10 kills on 24 attacks. She totaled 12.0 points on the day.
IUP had 10 service aces, with three each coming from senior
Breanna Damiani and sophomore
Dominica Niccolai. Niccolai also distributed 43 assists Saturday, her second highest output of the season.
Defensively, sophomore
Jasmine Raudys finished with three solo blocks, with Ignace and sophomore
Shelby Miles each adding four block assists. Senior libero
Jess Marut finished with 21 digs and hit 300 on the year.
Marut hits milestone
Marut became the second player in IUP history to reach 2,000 career digs this weekend. She currently stands at 2,035 in her four seasons and is second all-time to Emily Pany, who had 2,670 from 2007-10.
Marut is also 13th in PSAC history in career digs, 15 shy of tying Lock Haven's Sydney Belcastro, who had 2,050 from 2012-16.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks return home for a weekend doubleheader against PSAC Northwest opponents Mercyhurst (Sept. 28) and Gannon (Sept. 29). Both matches will be played in the Memorial Field House.
