IUP Field Hockey falls to No. 4 Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.- Senior goalie Olivia Accardi posted a career-high 22 saves but fourth-ranked Shippensburg dominated on both sides of the field as IUP field hockey lost to the Raiders 4-2 Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson Hawks fell to 1-6 overall with the loss, while Shippensburg improved to 6-1.

IUP was the first to get the ball rolling in the first 15 minutes with a goal off a penalty by freshman Hannah Miller assisted by her classmate Renne Lauer, her second dish of the year. Shippensburg tied things up in the 30th minute with the score remaining 1-1 at the end of the first half.

Junior forward Kimberly Kelly answered back in the 49th minute of play giving the Crimson Hawks a 2-1 lead. The 2-1 lead fell short as Shippensburg answered back scoring three goals within 15 minutes, giving them a 4-2 lead.

Shippensburg outshot IUP 30-4 and held a 21-2 advantage in penalty corners. Three green cards were given out with IUP being responsible for two in the first half and one in the second.
