INDIANA, Pa. – Freshman
Nicole Peterson and senior
Jessica Ignace combined for 22 kills and helped the Crimson Hawks to one of their best offensive performances of the season as IUP women's volleyball swept Kutztown in three sets at the Kovalchick Complex Friday night.
Peterson finished with 12 kills and Ignace added 10 as IUP hit .223 as a team. The Crimson Hawks won by scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-22.
It was the second win in the last three matches for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 3-11 overall and 2-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
IUP also had a strong defensive showing against the Golden Bears (6-10, 0-6 PSAC). The Crimson Hawks totaled 12.0 blocks as Kutztown hit just -0.16 for the night. The 12.0 team blocks are tied for the most in a match this season and is the highest in a three-set match.
Ignace posted a season best six total blocks with three solo and three block assists. Sophomore
Kylie Osborn had a solo block and four assists while junior
Jasmine Raudys had a pair of block assists.
