EDINBORO, Pa. –
Gerard Morato won a pair of events as IUP swimmers combined for seven individual wins overall but dropped both ends of a dual meet at Edinboro Friday night.
The Edinboro men won by a score of 102-91 while the women won 110-95.
Morato took home top honors in the 200 breaststroke and 500 freestyle, while also anchoring the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Morato won the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.52, nearly five seconds better than Edinboro's second place swimmer. He also won the 500 free by nearly five seconds with a time of 5:07.98.
Two other IUP men posted individual wins, including
Luke Emmerling in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:42.50 and
Jackson Woolard in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.27.
For the women, three different swimmers earned raced to first and second place finishes.
Olivia Santee won the 1000 free (11:02.69) and was second in the 200 backstroke (2:12.29);
Gabrielle Gironda won the 200 butterfly (2:16.53) and was second in the 200 freestyle (2:00.08); and
Paige Mikesell was first in the 100 freestyle (53.53) and second in the 200 IM (2:10.77).

The women took the top three spots in the 1000 freestyle, paced by Santee's first place finish …
Clara Gracia was second and
Colleen Como was third … Gracia and Como also finished second and third, respectively, in the 500 free … For the men,
Mauricio Lobo and
Nathan Dill each posted a pair of second place finishes … Lobo was second in the 500 and 100 free while Dill was second in the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle.

The Crimson Hawks have their first home action of the season next up on the schedule as they host Saint Vincent Saturday, November 2. That will be the last dual meet before the competitive Cleveland State Magnus Cup November 22-24 in Ohio.
