BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Nicole Peterson had 16 kills to lead IUP women's volleyball to a four-set victory over Bloomsburg Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field House.
Peterson's 16 kills came on 32 total attacks with just five errors as she hit a season-best .344 on the day. She led an IUP offense that had a .229 hitting percentage, it's best performance of the season.
It was the Crimson Hawks' second win of their weekend road trip as they improved to 5-13 overall and 4-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). That includes a 3-1 mark against the schools in the Central Division.
IUP took the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-18, as the offense was on fire early hitting a combined .418. Peterson had eight of her kills in those first two sets while classmate
Lizzie Virgin had nine.
Bloomsburg took the third set 25-14 but IUP bounced back with a 25-21 win in the fourth after forcing the Huskies into nine hitting errors.
Sophomore
Kylie Osborn led the defensive effort with four blocks assists and a solo block. She added two kills and two service aces.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks return home next weekend as they get back to divisional play with matches against Seton Hill (9-7, 5-3) Friday and Cal U (9-8, 4-5) Saturday.
