IUP Women’s Volleyball falls at home to Seton Hill

INDIANA, Pa. – Jessica Ignace had 11 kills but the Crimson Hawks were outhit by Seton Hill as IUP women's volleyball dropped a three-set match to the Griffins to open its home divisional weekend at the Memorial Field House Friday night.
 
Ignace hit a season-best .348 with her 11 kills on 23 total attacks. However, the Crimson Hawks hit just .054 as a team and were outhit by more than 100 points on the night.
 
The Griffins won the match by scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-18. IUP dropped to 5-14 overall and 4-6 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play, two games behind Southwest Division-leading Seton Hill (11-8, 6-4).
 
In the highly competitive opening set, the Crimson Hawks rebounded from a 17-13 deficit with an 8-2 run, forcing Seton Hill into four hitting errors to take a 21-19 lead. The Griffins came back to take the lead but IUP rallied again to tie the score at 25-all on a kill by Ignace.
 
Seton Hill clinched it with two straight points, forcing the Crimson Hawks into a hitting error for the set winner.
 
In the second Seton Hill broke open a tight set with an 11-5 run and led by as many as 10 in the third en route to the sweep.
 
Up next
The match was the first of two at home against divisional foes this weekend. IUP will host Cal U (10-8, 5-5) Saturday at 1 p.m.
