INDIANA, Pa. – Senior guard
Malik Miller scored a season-best 22 points and helped the Crimson Hawks shoot 52 percent from the floor as eighth-ranked IUP men's basketball posted an 88-73 win over Bloomsburg in the PSAC opener Saturday at the Kovalchick Complex.
Miller got closed to a triple double, adding nine rebounds and seven assists to his 22 points. He went 7-of-17 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and went 5-of-5 from the foul line in 31 minutes.
The Crimson Hawks remained undefeated on the year as they improved to 4-0.
The 88 points is a season-high for the Crimson Hawks, who shot 52 percent from the floor and knocked down 10 3-pointers.
IUP was on fire from the start, shooting nearly 58 percent during its 54-point first half to take a big lead into halftime. The Crimson Hawks had an early 12-3 run to take a lead and then used an 18-2 run later in the half to break the game open.
IUP knocked down three straight 3-pointers, with Foster,
Dylan Benton and Miller going back-to-back-to-back to push the lead to 20 points with 4:09 left. Foster was a big part of the Crimson Hawks' big first half with 14 points and three assists on 6-of-10 shooting.
Miller knocked down three treys in the first half two in the final minutes to give IUP a 54-29 lead at halftime.
The Crimson Hawks had little problem keeping their big lead in the second half, grabbing a 68-48 lead at the midway point of the second.
Bloomsburg (2-3, 0-1) did outscore IUP in the second and made several mini runs but still couldn't get any closer than 14 minutes down the stretch as the Crimson Hawks wrapped up the win.
Foster finished with 17 points, four assists and three steals and
Tommy Demogerontas, who went down in the second half with an injury, added 13 points in 15 minutes.
