CLARION, Pa. – The IUP swimming teams returned to the pool for their second meet in as many weeks, dropping both ends of their dual to Clarion Saturday afternoon at Tippin Natatorium. The men lost 165-110 while women dropped a 173.5-112.5 decision.
Paige Mikesell highlighted the effort for the Crimson Hawks, picking up three of the six women's event victories with three conference qualifying times.
Mikesell took home individual honors in the 100 freestyle (53.53), 200 freestyle (1:55.27) and the 100 butterfly (57.65). She also swam the third leg of the second place 200 medley relay squad.
Rachel Johnson posted two individual wins for the women, taking home top honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.87) and 400 IM (4:53.67).
IUP also won the women's 200 freestyle relay with
Emma Winchell, Olivia Kurtz,
Havannah Suarez and
Natalie McGrath finishing in 1:45.44.
On the men's side,
Taylor Auger won a pair of events with PSAC qualifying times. He posted victories in the 200 backstroke at 2:01.40 and the 400 IM at 4:23.29.
Gerard Morato won a third individual event for the IUP men, taking home the top spot in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.51, while
Ryan Hartmann won the 100 butterfly in 54.50.
The men's 200 freestyle relay team of

Nathan Dill and Morato won a fifth event with a time of 1:33.67.
PSAC qualifying times
In all, nine Crimson Hawks combined for 15 PSAC qualifying times Saturday afternoon. Mikesell and Johnson each had three, while Auger and

This was the last action of the 2019 calendar year for the Crimson Hawks, who return the final weekend of January when they host the annual Pidgeon Memorial Invitational. The two-day event runs January 31-February 1 at the Pidgeon Natatorium.
